Just wondering what you fellow moose hunters out there use? Over the years I used a 270, 7mm Rem Mag, and 300 WSM. 130 grain was the smallest I ever used on the 270. I know most think the 270 is too small for moose but speaking from experience i dont think it is. I used 180 nosler in my 300 last fall for that bull I shot. Mind you these are moose in Ontario and not the big Yukon moose. happy shooting! Brian

I use a 7mm Reg Mag and hand load 180 Norma for moose. I don't want to jinks it but have only had to fire one shot for the 7 bulls in the past 11 years. I really like the Norma bullet as it holds together real well on a heavy boned animal like a moose.

I personally havn't used a 270 for moose but if that was my favorite gun I would have NO problem using it. I would probably not go below a 150 grain bullet though, something like a 165 or 170 but as I don't own a 270 and therefore don't hand load it, I am not really sure of the bullet weights available for that cal.

There are 4 of us that hunt moose together and the other 2 different cals in the group are a 300 Winchester and a 30-06, both are good cals for moose as well. The cal is another 7mm Rem Mag. but he uses factory loads.
