Two Bucks Chasing Doe!!

Recommended Posts

Was doing my usual weekend thing (when I'm not hunting), watching out the window for deer activity, saw nothing, so started doing dishes, all of sudden I saw 3 deer cruising into the field below our house. The first one was a doe, the second was a nice 8 point, the third was a small 8 point. Watched them for about 45 minutes, the bigger buck would run at the small buck and chase him off 60 yards, then he'd return to the doe, he'd take a run at her, she'd run, then they'd stand around. Watched this for about 45 minutes, at one point they were about 70 yards from our house! Neat! I was watching thru the spotting scope while my wife scrambled for the camera. Eventually the small buck took off to the NW (realizing that this was a futile cause?) and the buck and doe pranced around awhile and then ran our of site, never did get to see them do the deed frown.gif Still neat to watch!!!!

Morale of the story? Muzzleloaders and late bowhunters, don't give up hope, there is still rut activity!!!!

As a side note, a few years ago, I saw the same thing, a buck 'herding' a doe over Thanksgiving, with a small buck hanging out. Only thing, that buck was a wallhanger, in hindsite I should have went after him, but I had Turkey day commitments. Live and learn!
