Bleat/Drag/Call

I have yet to call/scent in a deer. Frustration is setting in and I'm looking for some tips from the experts.

What time of the year should I use a bleat can (the one that kind of whines)?

Does a drag work in the snow and/or cold?

Should I combine my bleat with some grunts on the tru talker?

How do you make the deer alarm call with your mouth?

Thanks in advance.

Wallter, the best way is to see the deer and see how it reacts to your calls. I mainly use a grunt call. I have tried alot of grunt calls and the best one I found is a Haydell
DG87. I have called in bucks from the first day of bow season to the last. Good luck and keep tring.

I have deer come in early and late to both the bleat and grunt. I also have had bucks come in with a rattle bag sequence followed by some grunts. Unfortunately it doesn't work every time. I have seen buck that where within hearing distance do absolutely nothing at my calling and I have had them close a 200 yd gap in a matter of seconds. I would keep trying with some grunts, eventually you will get one that likes what he hears.

Like DeerSlayer said, Give it a try when you see a deer and see what works. I have called deer around slews and to me over 400yds, and I have scared the dump out of them, So you just have to play around and see what works.
They also can work well when a deer is walking off, to get there attention again...
Good Luck
