Pistol use legal in slug zones ?

I seem to recall it used to be legal to use a pistol in slug zones for deer hunting. I don't have the regs here and have a chance to hunt the second week of the season down near Marshal MN. I haven't shot a slug through any of my variable choke shotguns except my .410 and feel I'd have just as good a chance with my .44 mag as with the .410.
Can anyone tell me if I'm right or am I having a senior moment ??

i believe the regs state that handguns can be used anywhere just like slugs unless its a bow hunting area only

Handguns are allowed in the "Shotgun Zone". and the .44 mag will provide far more killing power than the .410!

I hunt the slug zone, but I will be packing my Thompson Contender in 30-30 caliber. Completely legal. I am extra careful and hunt from elevated stands to avoid possibly sending a stray bullet somewhere it doesn't belong.
