mark chiamp
i only fish perch, usually in 20 to 30 feet of water, i DO NOT use a shanty ever, i fish in lake simcoe ontario, its always 5 to 10 degrees outside, i really prefer braid, i used to use fireline but freezes up quick, what about this new suffix 832 ice braid ???? any of you guys try it ????was also told to try p-line fluro ice ???? thanks
Scott O.
The Suffix ice braid is pretty good stuff from what I've heard. Power Pro also has a good ice braid that resists freezing up like the Fireline did. You couldn't go wrong with either of those if you want to go with braid. I usually use flourocarbon ice line more often than braid. I'd recommend Northland Fluorosilk or Trilene's ice fluorocarbon line.
mark chiamp
DO YOU FEEL THE FLUROCARBON ICE FREEZES UP LESS THAN THE BRAID ???? i like the small diameter of the braid and the zero stretch, just dont like the freeze up, thank you
Scott O.
Yes, I think it freezes up less than braid. All lines will freeze up regardless when the temperature gets low enough, but it seems that the fluoro I use does it alot less.
th64
Power Pro stays nice and straight and no stretch-Floro does not obsorb water so their is little freeze up. You can add lip balm to braid to help it resist water-you could do that where the line meets the water. I face the same problem I almost never use my shack and I love braid. Good Luck
