First Ice!

With the low temps dipping well below -10 all week, I decided to sneak out to a higher elevation lake in the Black Hills for a couple hours yesterday morning. With safety being first and foremost, I spudded my way onto the lake while wearing the Ice Armor Lift Suit, and Floating Ice Picks. I found the ice to be plenty safe, so my buddy and I started fishing. I started fishing with a chartreuse Speed Spoon. The trout seemed interested, but would not commit. I downsized to an orange Epoxy Drop, and that is what turned them from lookers into biters. Several nice rainbow trout were caught, and one very large northern pike was lost. All in all, it was a great day to start my 2014/2015 ice fishing season

We walked on water the earliest ever here by the twin ports. 11/14. Use caution and bring the proper PPE and a buddy. Safety 1st!

We woulda liked to catch walleyes but oh well not mad over a small ski being fist hardwater fish
