Matt Johnson
This is definitely cool stuff! The future is sneaking up on us, that's for sure! I've been using the SonarPhone systems in my boat all season and really like them... and now that they can co-exist with Navionics--and on the same screen--you have something amazing! Nice work Vexilar and Navionics!
CaptainMusky
Now we're talking. Marcum better take notice of this and consider their pricing of the RT-9 that was leaked. That is ridiculously priced. Granted some other features, but in reality not worthy of that price point. Good job Vexilar/Navionics for coming together on this. Probably will not work real well for ice fishing (sonarphone) due to the depth of the ice interfering with the transducer, but I am sure something must be in the works for that perhaps suspending it below the surface of the water somehow??? This is great for Vexilar but I dont think it really touches on what Marcum has with their RT9. I wish Vexilar would incorporate this into the Ice Sonar which may happen at some point? I had a chance to run FLX28 and LX7 side by side last year and each has its own merits. It comes down to user preference. The RT9 per description is said to use a 3D mapping version of Navionics which is not available in the regular smartphone or tablet app that I know of. However it remains to be seen if this is true or not for Marcum. Features make up a lot of difference in GPS lake mapping. If your worried about pricing on the Marcum I dont think the cost is going to be all the different once Vexilar does come out with a true digital ice sonar unit of their own. I would expect Vex to price it in the $1000+ range if it had similar features. Just look at the open water sonar for other brands such as Humminbird or Lowrance which are quite expensive already. CaptainMusky
I guess you are right, but the thing with a "open water" electronic like lowrance or bird is you can do SOOOO much more with them. Sirius, Radar, onboard diagnostics, network units, control outboards, trolling motors, down riggers, etc. So to me they are worth the dough. I am glad that Vexilar came out with this and I am sure its going to be reasonably priced. Nice to have some options out there.

Its pretty much dead on from my experience I did find a couple spots but hey for $10 bucks its a must have.

James Vladyka
It's now live for IOS users!!! If you have a Sonar Phone and Navionics you can be taking full advantage of this. If you don't you are missing out!!! Navionics Boating for iPhone and iPad, version 7.2, includes a powerful new fishfinder feature that allows you to view sonar and Navionics charts, both full screen and split screen, within the same app. Simply connect wirelessly with SonarPhone hardware, and the app automatically displays the live data. This incredibly useful feature is possible due to a new partnership between Navionics and longtime innovators of sonar technology, Vexilar, Inc. The easy-to-use fishfinder works with the SonarPhone T-Box setup, which includes a transducer and Wi-Fi transmitter that can easily be installed on any vessel. Boaters who are looking for a handy and inexpensive supplement to their current onboard systems also benefit from wireless access anywhere on the boat. And SonarPhone offers a convenient, affordable way to monitor sonar and position on smaller boats which might not normally have traditional chartplotter equipment onboard. Depth data obtained every time you connect with SonarPhone allows Navionics to enhance SonarCharts™ anywhere you go, including creeks, rivers and inlets where smaller vessels can easily access. Updated charts are available to you and the whole Navionics Community after about one week for any compatible device including mobile, plotter and web.
