Mike Walerak
It's getting to be that time of year when the heat is taking it's toll on the fishermen and the fish. I just returned from my annual trip to Detriot Lakes, MN. We had a mixed catch of largemouth bass, walleyes, sunfish, crappies and northerns. Nothing great for size, but we had good numbers of all species. I took the time to work on my Husky Jerk casting, and think I have most of the bugs worked out.Anyway, back to SD. I have not been able to get tabs on bites in the brookings area in the last few days. I do know that Lake Sinai is giving up a few walleyes and the perch have been going nuts. I was out a week ago and had non-stop action all evening. Jigs tipped with crawlers are taking the majority of the fish. After talking to a few folks on my way into town is sounds like they are still going strong.Did anyone brave the heat over the weekend?mw
Duck-o-holic
Thanks for the report Mike. It's hard to believe that there isn't anyone else out there fishing SD lakes. Let's share some information guys! I haven't been out lately, so I'm force to "fish" vicariously through all of you!! LOL!!!Duck-o-holic
New Yankee
Duck - I agree, the MN boys sure "talk" more than we do!Went to Henry AND Thompson last Friday with no luck. Think it was a slow bite and we were trying my friends boat out for the first time - and he had no trolling motor so believe our presentation was suspect - not enough wind to drift on Henry and we didn't know Thompson well enough to fish it before we ran outta light.[This message has been edited by New Yankee (edited 07-26-2004).]
dakotaB
We spent all day Sunday on Sinai. Caught about 30 medium sized perch between 3 of us. There were a ton of people looking for the perch that day. If a boat was anchored for more than an hour, it would attract 10 other boats. Some people caught the perch in the far Southeast corner early in the morning. We found them in the first bay to the west of the boat ramp. ------------------Don't let'm throw ya. Duck-o-holic
Thanks for the reports guys! I heard that the perch are going on Waubay and Swan. We fished Oahe on Saturday and caught 9 eyes, working pretty hard to get them. The bite was off due to the weather. Marked a lot of non-biters! Duck-o-holic PS-- Anyone else out there doing well?
