I can't wait for ice season! I'm really excited about all of the new full thermal shelters and being able to get jigs and some Maki Plastics from them as well. Clam is really becoming a one-stop for all your ice fishing needs.

I was looking at the Clam Legend thermal and I see that it is black on the inside is that now how thermal ice shacks are from clam? And is it a spray because the spray sucks I bought a clam kenai in the fall last year and it is junk after a year of use due to the black spray and poor quality of the black interior coating. Because if I can get a thermal ice shanty without spray I will buy it.

Matt Johnson can answer this better but I believe that the black interior was a prototype. the same thing was shown on the new Jason Mitchell 5 sided hub in the promo video on you tube(they added a disclaimer that the interior is gray and not black). they should be the standard gray interior on the thermal models.

So some changes I'm seeing in the 1-man line-up is:

the Pro TC is discontinued

the JM Pro is replaced by the Legend Thermal

the scout TC lost it's thermal cap

the Bigmouth (Thermal/non) is replaced by the Scout EXP only offered in TC and will hopefully be available in stores other than Gander

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but it looks like they did more name-swapping than anything and changed some options for insulation on select models.

The Legend Thermal does not have the black on the inside, that image was from a prototype and I have contacted Clam and it has since-then been removed. All of the thermal models have grey inside. Otherwise there are a ton of changes this year...

The Legend Thermal is a full thermal Pro with a newly designed frame for added fishable area and is also packed full of features. Light bar... new seating... new hammock storage... several great things, designed by Dave Genz.

The original Scout was brought back for those hardcore run and gun anglers looking for a lightweight one person shack.

Yes, the Scout EXP will be available all over, not just at Gander.

There is also a X1 model this year too, which has the thicker, more durable sled for towing. Comes in a full thermal with a light bar. Very rugged shelter that was tested through pretty extreme conditions. If you liked the X2 then this will be a great match when scaling down to a one person shelter.

Otherwise in regards to two person shelters, the seat systems have been improved, going back to the bar system so you can easily slide front to back and side to side. You also have two new models... the Warrior and the Tundra.

The Warrior has a bench seat system and the industry first built-in auger rack. Now you can storage your auger outside of the cover and grab it quickly to drill out an area without even opening your cover...

Then the new Tundra is an economy version of the Voyager allowing a parent with two kids to get into the sport for cheap... same foot print as the Voyager, but with a bench style seating system and only $399 retail!

Then there is a new JM5000, industry first 5-sided pop-up shelter and tons of new accessories...

A lot of new shelter changes for Clam this year!

Matt can you please put pictures of the inside and the storage hammock in the legend thermal. Also is it normal for all the black spray to come off, and is there anything I can do?

Musky,

here is a picture of the Legend Thermal that was on display at the state fair.

The X1 has a different sled and pole system. It uses a much thicker sled with a steeper grade at the front more designed for towing and running at high speeds. It also has the larger pole system (larger diameter) to match the X-series line of shelters...

The X1 also has a 900 denier tent, versus 600 denier for the Legend Thermal... so the X1 is a more durable shelter. The Legend Thermal is very durable as well, but if you're an angler who likes to fish big water (ice) and fly across the ice at high speeds pulling your shelter then the X1 is tough to be for a one-person shelter...
