Lake trout with the Mackinaw Big Fish Rod

I got a new Jason Mitchell Mackinaw Big Fish rod and wanted to try it out for lake trout yesterday. The bite wasn't crazy and no giants but I picked away at fish all day.One of my favorite things about March ice fishing is being the only one fishing a lake on a Sunday. The rod performed beautifully. Great hook sets and action for those large head shakes. It's a good thing I had my Scout TC, the wind gusts grew to 25+mph in the afternoon.
