tjsker
I plan on fishing the Missouri around the Platte Creek Rec Area over the Memorial Day weekend. Since I've never been there before, can anyone fill me in on how to fish the area? I'm hoping to catch some walleyes and smallies. Thanks
Mike Walerak
I have never fished the area personally, but I have a friend that does well trolling spinners and bouncers around the points. He does this all summer long and always seems to catch fish. Sorry I can't be of much help. The Missouri R. is not exactly my expertise.mw
NWBuck
From Platte creek boat ramp you can go any direction and have good luck. An annual favorite would be to go left (somewhat SE) out of the bay down to a pumphouse on the E side of the river. Probably around 8-10 miles I'd guess. A rocky point there typically produces alot of fish...try 12-16 feet. Also, south of the pumphouse there is a large mudflat...usually around 8-10 feet that can be very good as well. Lots of other places to pick up fish, so don't be afraid to try any likely looking spot...they all typically hold some fish.
