Jason Hamilton
Ice is nearing 28" in a lot of areas and around ridges it is thicker time to start packing the extension. Recently snow and high winds have made vehicle travel difficult on the lake. Go with a sled or tracked vehicle. The best bite for me has been around 12' in the early morning, associated with one of the major ice ridges. Look for fish deeper as the day progresses. With the weather switching daily the fish have been a little off lately. Make sure you try down sizing to get bites. 1/8oz Frostee spoons with a minnow head have got a few lazy fish to bite. With some whiteout conditions this weekend, the importance of watching the weather, having a full gas tank and charged cell phone (of course GPS and compass too) is again emphasized. A few vehicles were stranded. Good fishing and tune into the audio reports for more updates.
Jason Hamilton
Nice fish a guest caught on Friday. Use care out there, high winds and new snow created whiteouts and left a number of vehicles stranded this weekend.
