Waubay Regs

Jan. 1st starts the 14 inch size limit on Waubay. Remember you can only have 2 walleyes per day still. I hope to be on Waubay New years day.

Where are the walleyes biting at on Waubay?

Does this reg only apply to Waubay or the surrounding area lakes also? I'll be hitting Waubay and Lynn several times this year.

Every lake has diffrent laws. Your best bet is to carry a 2004 SD fishing Handbook with you.

I know Lynn lake is 2 walleyes per day also. But they have to be 16 inches to keep there.

Is the 14" slot going into effect on the 1st? Just making sure. Fished last weekend on Waubay and caught plenty of 15-16 inchers. You can tell they are not very healthy though, the 14" change would be nice to thin them out and allow them to grow. Also fished Buffalo, caught a few small eyes but that was about it. Also heard Opitz is pretty slow along with Cattail but I will have to check them out anyways. Thanks

How thick is the ice on Waubay? Can you travel all over the lake on a 4 wheeler? Are the eyes biting?

Its tomorrow.........How was the ice as far as four wheelers are concerned? any info would be appreciated.

I just got back today. Ice where I fished was 11" I noticed cars and trucks on other parts of the lake. WE took a four wheeler and had no problems, but then again we only fished a small area of the lake We fished a small area around Grenville.

How was the fishing up there?

Well it could have been better but we did manage some perch in the 8" to 10" range. Did better on walleyes caught about 30 for the 1 1/2 days. Largest being 19" with quite a few in the 14" to 16" range.
