Oahe in Sept.

Recommended Posts

Can anyone give me some insight into the September Oahe walleye bite?

How is the fishery these days in general?

For example average size of walleyes etc?

Thanks a ton!!

JimW,

I can't give you info on recent reports, but I can only tell you that it really depends on which part of September a person goes.

Labor Day Weekend, the fish will still be in summer patterns.....I've found walleyes on deep flats and main lake points (50+ feet deep) at that time of year. It can be quite hot, as well.

Later in September, I think the fishing generally gets better and a more shallow bite appears....the fishing also picks up in the tail waters later in the year, too. However, I don't think much water gets through the turbines these days, which really affects the fishing there.

It's been a few years, but I hope this info is somewhat helpful.

Hey, JIM W, How about posting what Tony Dean sent to you. Let's all be democratic here and share information. That's what this forum is all about.

Pigboy,

Unfortunately, by the time I read your post I had let it disappear into cyberspace. SOrry.

Second, If I know something I share it. I think I have a fair assumption regarding the ideology behind this HSOforum??lol

Have you been out? Care to share what you've come across?
Thaks a ton!!!

Actually, I've been doing most of my fishing down here in Nebraska. I've hit some walleyes at Harlan County Res and pan fish and numerous other Nebraska lakes both public and private. I plan to hit Francis Case in the fall, hopefully a couple of times.
