LuckyFish
I'm going to be in the area in two weeks, and was wondering if the walleyes, crappies, or perch were biting on Lynn, Waubay, or any other lake in the area.Any reports would be most appreciated. Thanks Lucky
Guest
I'll be there in two weeks as well for my first open water fish of this year. Some lakes are open, but they're not the popular ones, like Waubay, Buffalo, Pickeral. These lakes have about a week to go before they are ice free.I can point you to some of these lakes for Walleyes or Crappies, especially Waubay. Fish Walleyes on Waubay targeting the sunken Road beds with a 1/4oz Fireball Jig and a Fathead 9-14', just watch your electronics for these fish tight to structure areas and the trees. I wouldn't bother trolling any cranks this early--the key is to dangle the presentation in their face.Crappies you can see suspended along the Grenvile Grade in about 8' of water. Use a small Northland Bug-Eye Glo jig Blue with a fathead or Crappie Minnow and a slip bobber.I'll be in a Green and Gold PROV 1800 Tiller with a 90hp Merc if you want to chat.Good Luck!------------------Chells
honker23
I'm leaving tomorrow for waubay/grenville region. We will fish for anything that ia biting. Hopefully walleyes and crappies will turn on with the warm weather and wind they are having. Do you think with strong (40 mph) S-SE winds any ice will break up and blow into the water near the grenville road? If not the fish should roll in there and we should be able to find them. LuckyFish
Thanks for the indepth report guys. I didn't realize the ice was still on Waubay. At any rate I figured the smaller lakes like Lynn would be open and warming by now. The lakes in the Mankato area have been open for a couple of weeks now. I'll most likly be fishing out of my buddies Lund Mr Pike with a 50 hp Johnson. See you there and good luck.Lucky
Aberdak
I fished Lynn alot durring the early part of December thru the ice. There was an abundance of sub 16" walleyes. I'll probably be in waders and casting jig and minnow presentation. This will be my first open water fishing for the year. yahoo ------------------

Aberdak
I decided to stay closer to home on Saturday. Fished Richmond Lake just minutes from Aberdeen. Was able to catch 3 sub 14" fish and one 15.5" fish. Size limit on this lake is 14" with a daily limit of 4. I also saw something very interesting with 6" bluegills sticking there heads out of the water just looking like there resting. Has anyone else ever witnessed this. I could dangel a small jig and minnow by them but could not interest them in biting?? ------------------
