Minn Kota tm not turning properly

RRmawi

Question

Minn Kota  55 Riptide with foot pedal and hand held remote

so when you first connect the battery with out the foot pedal connected or any of the control cables connected, the shaft will begin turning to the right.

with foot pedal and wireless remote cables connected the unit stops turning but does not respond to the left or right control. It will go forward.

it was purchased used and worked fine in April. In July i went to use it and it acted as I described above.

I have read several of the forums but did not see the exact same symptoms.

help please.

thanks in advance

RRmawi, Welcome to the forums.  I don't have one and by no replies it looks like not many others do as well?

Sounds like you mite have some corrosion or wear happening in the connections and controllers.  Did you try replacing the batteries in the remote already? You could try some dielectric grease on all the connections to see if it's a contact issue. Or some Electicric contact spray on the switch's.  If you got some water in the motor from a leaking seal that could also affect the current flow through the system as well.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.
