Ice conditions

I checked the ice last night at Lake Louise north of Miller and it was better than it was last Saturday. I was kind of suprised to see about 8 inches of ice where there was about 6 on Saturday. There are more hours of freezing than thawing on these nice days. Good bluegill and perch bite, nothing big. Keeps the kids entertained and you can get on all the lake from shore without driving.

Hey jb7mmstw, you wouldn't be a certain AFI agent that does a taxidermy on the side in Miller would it? (I only caught the 7mmstw part because I know you had one custom made by Chris Wulff in Huron.)

jb, I used to live about a block away from you north through Del's yard and what used to be Kolda's, you sold me my first bow and taught me how to shoot, I think I probably annoyed the hell out of you in the process, but it worked. I'm not doing this to be an *** , I just hate putting my real identity out on these forums. If you can't figure it out from that, I was the Lutheran pastor's kid.

You found me!! My son and I have been hitting Louise quite a bit scince he's been home from college and catching alot of little perch. If you stick it out and move around you can find some nice bluegills and an occasional 12 inch perch or walleye.
I think we will try Lake Thompson this weekend or maybe Dry Lake.

I Love My STW!!!!!!

Oh, jb, if you're planning on Dry Lake north of Willow Lake forget it unless you want northerns, if you're interested in northerns you'll get them, just let me know and I'll tell you where, dad and I went up there over Christmas break when I was back home. Other than northerns it's been pretty dead. Menke's slough NW of Henry is hitting for walleyes, or was a week ago, it's an evening bite.

Thompson has 9-10 inches of good ice on the north end and open water east of the state ramp over by the trees. There were several people who drove on the lake, but 90% used there legs or 4wheelers. We didn't get set up till about 10:00am and it was pretty slow till evening then the walleyes started to bite and I had to leave to take my wife out for dinner (her birthday). Next time I'll go later and stay for the night bite.

jb, we have a winner! What you should have done was taken the wife fishing, then taken her to North Shore restaurant up there on Thompson, good food, nice view, and you would have gotten to fish longer. The problem being, if she's like my wife, she wouldn't have appreciated the kind gesture nearly as much as she should have. No matter how considerate we try to be they always seem to turn it around on us.
