Has anybody used these? The look like nice units for a decent price. I'm interested in getting the 7 with GPS/DI for my bow, Does anybody know how big the Bow Mount DI Transducer is? I have a lowrance transducer now and it is slick, super small and compact, I never have to worry about breaking it off

You will have to send the transducer in that it comes with and Humminbird will send you a trolling motor ducer that fits perfectly to the trolling motor. Also if I was you I would try to go up to a Helix 9 if possible only because you can not network the Helix 7. To me networking is an absolute must. I mark so many spots on my bow that I would be lost if I didn't have the two units networked. But yes the Helix units are getting a lot of really good reviews. I am hoping I can get into a Helix 10 this year but if not this year next year.

I didn't realize the Helix 7 wouldn't network to another unit......For that matter, I wonder if the 797 I currently have on my console has networking capabilities.

Yes your 797 can network. I think it was only the 500 series units that couldn't. You'll be super happy once you get a unit that can network. Also you can find some really good deals on BBC for down imaging units. I saw a 958 HD DI unit the other day for $400 I think. That's crazy! I spent like $800 on my 858 HD DI unit brand new. Now with the Helix units coming out a lot of the older units are being sold left and right.

I might have to go that route. I really want GPS on my bow.

Craigums, make sure you pick up a HS receiver for that 797 and mount it as close to your bowmount as possible.  You won't be sorry.

I too have been giving the Helix a very strong look when I put new units on the boat this  spring.

I know this is old but im gettin back into this hole page and thought id share. I run an 898 at the console and a small old lowrance(I just use it to tell me the depth while I'm on plane) and at the bow I have a 858 and they are linked. Best thing ever! Especially if you have SI or just idle around in general. Mark a few spots then setup how you want to once you're on the trolling motor. I just bought my first boat last year, I used to fish out of my dads and that was the biggest upgrade. Ive been debating about getting an I pilot to link up to both the units as well
