Savage Bmag in .17 WSM

Hello to all.  I just got one of these rifles as a Christmas gift and was wodering if anyone has any experience with them.  I know the .17 wsm has far superior ballistics then the .17hmr but as ive watched some videos and read some reviews, the Savage Bmag isn't holding up to its end of the bargain.  Ive heard a lot of split casings, "flyers", large shot groups at 50 yards, extraction problems, etc.  Does anyone have any input on these?

I was looking at a 25 wssm once upon a time and the gun smith talked me out of it. According to him, the smaller calliber wsm are to hot, they are just too fast, and the rifle can't really stand up to it. Not sure if it is true or not, and savage is a very good gun, so I am sure it will work out for you and will have a great varmint gun.
