lilwalter
Looking for a new pup-versatile, upland and waterfowl. I've seen these dogs in the water but never in the field. I do some pheasant hunting too and would like some input from you folks that have used them for pheasants. Thanks
French Spaniel
If you can get a hold of some old Gun Dog magazines I know they've had a feature on the Water Spaniel. Also, one of their columnist (Dave Duffy) gave a lengthy answer to a reader's question on the Water Spaniel. I think both occured in the last two years. I will look back through some old issues and see if I can find them for you. I'm pretty sure you can order old Gun Dog issues. You could go to the magazine web site and see if you can find out what month and year the articles were done. Other than what I read in those articles I don't know a lot about them. gundogmag.com I've owned French Spaniels for six years and have just started to breed them. Should have a litter around Christmas. They are a very rare pointing dog. They were bred to hunt grouse and woodcock. They hunt close and work great for pheasants. My dogs retrieve in the water but I have never used them for ducks so I don't know what kind of duck dog they would be. Good luck with the Water Spaniel.
