Starting a topic to discuss ice reports. Wondering if there's any lakes up there that are locked up? Or any lakes with 2" of ice or more.

 Up deer hunting this past week and yesterday I needed to go to the store in Webster. Just for kicks I drove to Jefferies Landing to check for ice. There was some in the bay but it was open besides that. Heck, even saw a boat out in front of Ike's. But on the way home  today there were people out fishing on the ice on the Clam Falls Flowage in Polk County.

I was planning on heading up on Saturday to check ice but never made it. I'd think it should've been fishable on some lakes on Saturday...I won't be back up there until the weekend following this coming one.

Yeah, it will be a little while. Looks like a shorter season this time.

Exactly. Cold front coming this weekend bringing highs in the mid to upper 20's and teens at night. A lot of smaller lakes up in the area should be good to go after this weekend. Almost a month later this year.

Got on the horn with Trade Lake Bait and found some lakes have minimal ice. With this cold snap this week it might make 3" of ice give or take on some lakes. Might be heading up this weekend to check things out. Will report back if I make it up there.

I know that we are stuggling for ice.  At one point we had fishable ice, but the recent changes have doomed what we had.  Dangerous

Yeah I hear ya. We won't have in the cities until the new year or after maybe. It is not good. People are losing money like mad right now. Hoping there will be ice in Burnett Co. area by this weekend. I've been having to drive all the way up to Red to get on ice.

 Just a quick report. After the three day cold snap, I headed up yesterday to see if there was any fishable ice. Went to Jefferies landing on Yellow first. It looked locked up all of the way across but nobody out fishing. Drove over to the landing near Ike's and it was frozen out to about the break and then there were some open water spots. No good. Did find 3" over on Upper Clam Lake and did fish but didn't do well at all. FYI.

 An update on Yellow Lake ice conditions: Went up there and fished Sunday. Found 5"-6" of ice on the north end, out from the boat launch near Ike's. Ice is kind of cloudy. Caught a few short walleyes along with some panfish. Pretty slow.

As of last Saturday I've been finding 3.5"-7" of ice on lakes near the Grantsburg area. Might head out to Yellow this weekend.

I braved the cold and fished Trade Saturday. Fishing was slow but I was finding a consistent 6 1/2"-7 1/2" of ice with 1"-3" of snow on top.

Fished big wood today. Found an average of 10 1/2" of solid clear ice with 1"-3" of drifting snow on top. Fishing was slow. Really had to work for those biters. There's been some small vehicle and wheeler traffic out there as well.

Returned to Big Wood on Sunday with a couple of friends who just wanted to get out of the house. Fishing was very very slow. Measured 12"-12 1/2" inches of solid black ice. Even drove the car out to the spot. There was some other light vehicle traffic (small SUV's and cars) and some permanents out.

Does anyone know if there was a contest or get together of some sort going on out on Big Wood this past weekend? Easily over 100 rigs out there just wondering what's the occasion.

 Fished Yellow Lake Wednesday and Thursday. Measured a bit over 12" of ice out from Ike's. FYI.
