crappieflop1212
Just wondering if any kind hunters are willing to pass along any good grouse areas. I've tried around the Big Falls area for the last two years. It's been tough. Got skunked last year. I would like to try somewhere else. Any info would be great. Also good luck to all this weekend. setterguy
Now I won't devulge my secret coverts, but there are a few spots that I will let you in on that have always produced for me. Solona State Forest has produced birds just about every time, Rum River state Forest, and Mille Lacs WMA. Now in these down years you are going to have to work for your birds, but if you put in your time in these spots you will find some. If you are ever looking to get out, just drop me a line. I love taking people out chasing ruffies.[This message has been edited by setterguy (edited 09-11-2003).]
crappieflop1212
Thanks for the tips. The father in law wants to try Big Falls again this weekend. Sure hope the population is on the upswing. DNR reports that drum counts are stable in that area. I guess we will find out. If I don't get one ruffy this weekend I think I'm on my way to another spot. I just have to convince the old man to come along.
