FishinFools
Any one care to comment? We have cut and installed the polystyrene insulation panels (by the way: cuts like butter with a straight edge and pizza cutter! Thanks for that tip!) I have some panels that are cut loose and I will fill gaps with great stuff foam. But many of the panels are tightly fit. I am thinking of taping these seams. Question is: what kind of tape would be best? I know aluminum tape would work well, but it's $$ and a pita to work with. Any thoughts? brian6715
I did the same insulation and I ended up laying 3/4" sheets perpendicular to those, in between my furring strips. I cut my 1.5" insulation with a table saw, so it was an exact press fit. I wouldn't worry about your small gap there, that's not going to do much for heat loss, but you do have to cover the aluminum up somehow, if you aren't adding more insulation then I would say your tape idea is a good one, that is what I was going to do. Sorry I can't help you with what tape to use though, I never got that far.
Lip_Ripper Guy
Two options:1) Cover the face of those metal studs with 3/4" plywood furring strips, the width of the studs + about 1/4".2) Run horizontal 3/4" furring strips about 1" wide, and fill in between the furring strips with 3/4" board foam. As far as taping the seams, I wouldn't bother, but do what you want. It's your fish house!
