Thank you Mr Stick. I thought nobody wanted to answer because of my picture. They were scared a big guy like me would eat out the whole forest. That's profiling and just not right. It would, I have to admit, be harsh, but fair though. Never tried fiddle heads, but I am looking forward to some fresh mushrooms.

No worries, Cicada. Give the fiddleheads a try...they're one of my favorite wild edibles. Just make sure you prepare them properly. If you do find some, do a quick search on youtube for cooking instructions. Super easy, but you gotta make sure you get the tannins out of them before you eat them.

And if you do find a bunch, don't harvest all of them, as they'll regrow year after year if you don't overharvest them. Last year someone hit one of "my" spots and picked every single fiddlehead in the area. frown
