Marcum call back

Like I said I don't care anymore, they say they try to call back but after a week obviously they aren't going to. I fish 50 times more in open water than ice and will not waver off of Lowrance. Every 8 years or so I buy a new unit for ice fishing. Never had a Marcum so I thought it would be cool to get one, I have a Vexilar. I was leaning towards a Bird 55 but got the Marcum, who knows Hummingbird service may stink too. My only experience is that they choose not to return a call. My business doesn't operate that way and if we did I'd hope other customers wouldn't cover our rear, we should cover our own.

Next buy won't be a Marcum and it won't effect their bottom-line a bit. Frankly I'm not bitter or anything. Life moves on with our without a Marcum.

I can understand being grumpy with customer service if they don't return calls or emails, guess I'm glad I haven't had any problems with their products. Mine get pounded on in the back of my portable when I'm pulling it with snowmobile.

Seriously though, no one can tell me if it's the same charging system as the one I have? If it has the gauge with the % what is the concern with a light on the charger?

I can see it being a big deal on the old school clip style like on my Ol' FL-18 where I clip them on and the light is red, then the light turns green to tell me the charge is complete.

I think the style you have is the "DCS" charger, which is what I have, and is the best charger I've ever used. They no longer make the DCS.

The one with the lights is the FL-18-style you mentioned, and those are garbage. I can never get them to work right. That is what Marcum is using now.

I'm on my second battery and charger from them for my LX-5. I brought it in for the "shaky bottom" problem, so they replaced the motor. At the same time I told them the battery charger doesn't go to green light when charged...they gave me a new battery and charger. Same issue still exists. I just deal with it now...still charges, but never shows correctly. I'm just done fighting it. The little transducer arm that's basically designed to break...they replaced that for free too, but I beefed it up to make sure it doesn't break again. At the end of the day, for what I paid and the fact that it performs pretty good, I'm ok with it. They've replaced some stuff on it without much issue.

Yeah I bought mine like the 2nd year that they came out. I wonder why they wanted to change a good thing? I've always liked mine and have recommended them for yrs. I've never felt the need to upgrade yet.

At the least, I'd try to give them another call or email. At my business we occasionally get messages that are less than clear. Sometimes the caller isn't speaking clearly or loud enough, sometimes there is a little hiccup in the message, etc. All it takes is for one number of your phone number to get garbled and they are sitting there saying "what do we do now?". Also always good to repeat your name and number (which you may have done). Could also be human error. Ie, they pass the message on to Bob for him to respond, Bob happens to be out for a few days sick and by the time he gets back, his desk is 2 ft deep in notes and something gets overlooked.

I have no loyalty towards Marcum or any other company, but it might be a little rash to count them out for one missed phone call. As for the poor quality charger, that's too bad. Sucks when that happens. Hopefully they come up with a new one that works better.

Not everyone has good luck when it comes to service work and I wonder sometimes it might be how its handled from the start

I recently sent back my LX6 after it quite reading bottom and they had it turned around including ship time in one week

My FF was 2 years old and it was done free of charge, all I can say is they treated me very well and I hope others experience the same

Great job Marcum!!
