Ice Castle Frames

I was just trolling on e.b.a.y last night to see what was being sold for ice fishing gear and found fish house frames listed. In the description it says that they are the new frame design that IC is going to go with in 2015. Company was called Hooked MFG out of Hector, MN.

Anyone know anything about these new frames?

Don't know the new company but I do know they quit using Miltona Blacksmith a few years back because they thought his price was too high. That tells me they are a low bid company, Miltona frames are bulletproof and I've never seen a complaint from anyone on any of the sites about them. I do agree that IC seems to be making a move toward better quality and fit & finish but that doesn't appease all the guys that bought the earlier ones and all the problems they had. They are the leader around Minnesota because of production so lets hope any move is for quality and not lower cost. Like I said, I think they are getting better.

there are some pics of the new frames on the add page. Seems to be some slight changes, but couldnt see what the changes would be for electric winch or hydraulic lift set ups. the ones being sold were for crank lift option. the Hooked MGF doesnt have a web page either so i couldnt go look there either.

Interesting. I'd like to see more detailed pics of how the wheel/crank system works. I'm not an engineer, but I would rather see a tube steel tongue than their stamped piece. My uneducated opinion is that there is going to be quite a bit of flex in that design.

My other opinion is that $3k is a lot of money for that frame.

CW welding and fab in vesta mn has been doing 2-3000. IC frames a year for quite a while. Not sue on the Miltona connection with IC? I would challenge anyone whith a tape measure and some knowledge about wheel allignment to find a better winch crank frame then CW. CW also ends up doing any warranty type work so they have a vested interest in their design. As we all know there are alot of people out there (even on this forum) who don't know what a grease gun is or what a wheel bering is and thet are mistified they can't hit ice heavey at 55mph with no issues. As you shop around for frames see if he local welder hooking you up has 2-3000 frames out on the road each year getting abused. Also ask if he will stand behind the tire wear and 1200lb winches?

Do you think IC is still changing to this new brand?

How about another hint on where to see these frames. Hooked mfg doesn't come up for me and I don't see them on e.b.

I just did a search on e.b using ice fishing as the key words then sorted by hihighest to lowest. They come up then. I just did it again and they came up as the 3rd item to bid on

sorry we haven't got a web site up yet. if any of you have any question about are frames you can pm me or email me at [email protected]. One big change we made is are pivot for are axle's is supported on both sides and the pin it pivot's on is replaceable and not welded to the frame we consider it to be a ware spot. Are winch towers are supported front and back in a 2 piece design. the axle swing arm is also a 2 piece design that makes it very strong and the hitch is 3/8 thick side walls. All of are parts are plasma cut to insure quality. we do have a face book page if you want to see pictures.

thank you

Jeremy Ryder

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
