calm waters

I think in situations like that it would ultimately depend on what the surface is looking like aka are fish hitting bugs on the surface, etc... But most likely I would head to shoreline points, inside weedlines, shallow (<5ft) pads, reeds, etc... and start throwing topwater: buzzbaits, spooks, poppers, torpedos, frogs/scums. Another awesome option for this kind of water is a sub-surface bait like a super fluke or shallow diving crankbait (<1ft dive depth).

Usually I like just a little ripple on the surface for topwater, but it's just too tempting not to throw topwater.

Just keep moving until you hit a couple bass, then focus on that kind of structure pattern for a little bit. Bass are on the feed in the early morning (generalization), so keep moving - I would start with shorelines and just look for the spots mentioned above...

I was going by a lake this morning and noticed practically the entire lake was dead calm. Didn't see a ripple. So I thought, what would be a plan of attack to catch bass in that situation? I would opt for top waters lures. How exciting would that be to see in calm waters. Lets hear your approach.
