JimW
Looking to buy a minnow bucket for my drop down. Would you buy the frabil 8 qt with bubbler or a 1 gal cooler at Wally World? is 1 gallon big enough? Seems like the frabil would be eating batteries all the time. Like the idea of the cooler with the twist top as it will not spill. House would be heated so no freezing issues. Want to have the minnows for the weekend and then be able to put in basement until the next weekend as it seems minnows are getting more expensive than buying fish.... WalleyeSlayer21
You need a Areator. You can get them at bait shops, scheels, gander,. etc, I have a 110 Air Bubbles Made by Marine Metal Products i have had it for like 2 years now, does me good and keeps my minnows, shiners, and suckers alive. Hopefully this helps Thanks, Tyler (Perchslayer21)
jigginjim
I have a 7gallon bucket I keep where it can stay really cold. On the coldest of days it may get skim ice on it. I have a fish tank system keep fish alive though with cold water they don't need as much. I will only have a dozen of each in the bucket, all the same size mainly for walleyes, 3-4inch minnows. when i go out I will only bring enough maybe get a limit of Walleyes in a red bait puck. I have had a dozen fatheads live in there for two days.
Fowlmouth
Google a product called them Bottom Bucket. I bought one about 4-5 seasons ago and it has paid for itself many times over. I can keep bait alive for weeks at a time. Its a floating bait bucket which is hooked to rope and on the other end a weight. when you leave the ice house put your minnows back in the bucket and it sits about a foot below the ice, which you can adjust the depth of the rope to do so.
