You deffinatly need to set the hook yourself. A wacky rig is not hard to fish but you need the patience of a saint... many times you do bexst to throw it out to a fishy area and let it sit.. and when you think its time to move it.. wait a little longer. Deffinatly not a search lure.. But if you know they are there, its a good way to bring them to the boat.

but yes.. set the hook like you are fishing any kind of soft plastic!

I have never tried wacky worm rigs - but I'm going to try them soon (next week). Do the fish sort of set themselves on the hook - or do I need to wait and then set it myself - I'm assuming I need to wait and set it myself.

I usually fish top waters - spooks and 'orenos mostly. The bass seem to set the hooks on those themselves.

I'll be fishing with an 11 year old. She likes casting crank baits and top waters. But I know when she sees the plastic worm she's going to want to try it too. I want to give her good advice on how to use it.

Thanks.
