totally_addicted
After reading all the hunting reports from the firearm season so far, I thought to myself: Do you think with the reduced number of antlerless tags, people are seeing more deer because they are forced to wait for a buck? Would they have seen as many without having to wait?I have read many fair/good reports from people, and they end it with "no doe tags this year so we didn't shoot."I grew up hunting with a family with the brown is down philosophy. I personally changed my style of hunting on my own. I prefer to hunt for mature bucks. I will take a doe for the freezer if the area allows it or if the season is winding down. I, personally, enjoy "hunting" more than killing, but I do like to have venison around. However, I see a lot of deer because I don't shoot "many" and let a lot of deer walk. NOTE: This is not me preaching about how to hunt or complaining about others. Just merely discussion on deer sightings going up because of fewer antlerless tags. quacksmackMN
I would say that for me personally your idea is correct. Typically I would shoot the first good doe I saw but this year I had to let 15 or more deer walk before I actually saw a shootable buck. Had I just shot the first doe I wouldn't even know those other deer were around.
