Basser,
I replied to this last night but something happened to it??? Not a big deal though I think maybe I didn't hit submit or something--Who Knows??? Anyways, wow that must have been two years ago or more. I'm not an expert, nor do I claim to be, but I would be willing to share some info. Deep water bassin is not my favorite thing to do, but if you'll give me a starting point I'll be glad to give you some ideas of how I approach things.

Yeah , I think it was quite a while ago. I'm like you in that I dont like orhave had much success fishing in deep(over 10ft) water. I need to start doing this more . What can you tell me,I am mainly a worm-plastics guy and I remember you saying somewhat the same. How can I get to these deep fish using these techniques? Thanks for responding. Dan

Basser,
I'm at work so I don't have much time, but here is a very simple thought and one you should really consider. I too am a plastics guy. I also prefer shallower water if given the choice. But my absolute favorite zone is from 6-12 feet. Usually the outside or deep inside weedlines. No matter where you are fishing however, a bass is a bass is a bass. It doesn't matter if he's in six inches of water or twenty five feet. The lures for the most part don't change--just the presentation. Instead of texas rigging with a 1/32 oz weight, you might need a 3/8 oz weight. You might try a carolina rig on large flats or deeper weedlines. Instead of a DT6 Rapala, You'll need A DT16. You have to slow roll a spinnerbait, not burn it just underneath the surface. I don't mean this to sound trite, but it is really this simple. The bass in deep water isn't any different than the bass in the slop, but the way you have to catch him is. I would be glad to really get specific for you, but if you'll take this train of thought with you to the lake each time you go, as the summer progresses, you'll notice that you will be able to follow the fish as they move towards there summer haunts, and as they get deeper so will you. Deep fishing is no different than shallow fishing--you just have to have that couple of good days in order to gain confidence in it.
One last thing--The only difference between fishing deep and fishing shallow--is the depth of the water. LOL
