Filson Chaps?

Recommended Posts

So I bought a pair of Filson double tin chaps two years ago, thinking these would be heirloom quality I'd pass on to my son someday.

After last year, they're already full of holes. I treated them as best I could, and even waxed them after the first season. They seemed like quality stuff, and I know Filson is known for their toughness, but I'm really disappointed in how these have faired.

Granted, I go through some thick slop for phez. We hardly hunt outside of cattails, and I know those can be hard on gear.

Anyway, curious if others have had similar issues with Filsons, or if there's another brand of chaps you'd recommend that should last longer than two hard seasons of hunting?

Filson has an awesome warranty, and makes some of the best stuff available. Send them babies in and they will replace them free. I have a pair of thick Filson hunting pants that I don't think I will ever wear out smile But it's nice knowing the warranty is always there.

A lot of rabbit hunters swear by Dan's chaps, Filson and Mule.

My first pair lasted about 12 years before they started wearing out from the bottom up. My second pair is about 3 years old and no issues. I hunt a lot of cattails and willows and some grass. I would say that is out of the ordinary from what I have seen.

Good to know. I must have bought a defective pair. After this hunting season, I'm sending them back for a repair/replacement.
