Wood burning stove recommendations??

Looking to put a wood burner in my new 30x40 garage I am building. The free standing type where you can see the flames. (yes I already checked with my insurance)

Any recommendations of what to get or where to go?

I heat my cabin with wood and it is really insulated well. I have a small Osburn wood stove that is about 24 x 24 x 24. it can only handle about a 16" log. The fire box is too small to hold a fire overnight so I would suggest a stove that is maybe 30 wide by 30 high 24 deep is ok. I damper down at night and to put in larger logs for overnight but the firebox is just too small. It does heat the cabin very well as long as there is fuel in the firebox.

Thanks for the reply. I guess not many guys heat with wood anymore, if they do maybe it's up at the cabin and can't remember the make.

My uncle has an old Fisher up at his cabin. But they don't make Fishers anymore.

Looking at a Pacific Energy.

Thanks Anyway

EPA has new wood stove regs in pipeline or in effect (not sure which). Pretty draconian. You might check them out. After new rules even individuals will not be allowed to sell a non-compliant stove.

Well that will be interesting to see how they enforce that! Anyhow the Fischer is an awesome stove. Grew up feeding a momma bear at my parents house. I t is still in the basement but it isn't even close to EPA compliant. I have a Wilkening (made in Walker MN) at home and the Osburn at the lake. both have some sort of pollution control built into them and are set up to draw air from the outside. The new stoves don't require a draft control on the flue pipe as they can be regulated by the air intake (pre combustion). Like I said pretty much any stove can do the job just make sure it is heavy enough to last and has good fire brick and a big enough fire box. Look at the list by the C guy and look at The "M" box store.

I have a glass door Quadra Fire in 2000 to heat my home. 14 years and I have yet to even change the door gasket. It provides about 95% of my heat so it gets a good workout. They are not cheap but I feel like I've already got my moneys worth out of mine.
