Kyle
I searched for this subject with no success so here I go..I intend to replace my Lowrance H20. The screen is severely scuffed. I know there are many options for handhelds that accept lake map software/chips. I am most interested in the software. I already have navionics on my phone, but have noticed it is not very accurate with my position... What is your software choice for ice fishing with a handheld? MN Mike
Seems like there is still an ample supply of Garmin Upper Midwest Fishing Guide chips out there yet, team that up with Garmins free Basecamp software on your PC and you have a pretty good setup.Through Basecamp you can work with waypoints, update software on the device and more.Garmin makes such a wide range of handhelds you'll have to see what fits you best, buttons, touchscreens, floating handhelds and other features like Birdseye and such. If you are looking at a touchscreen, I would recommend the Oregon 600 series, the GPSMap 62's have been replaced by the GPSMap 64, so you can find some real good deals on the 62's right now. Garmin even has a couple of handhelds that are android powered now, the Oregon 600 being one of them.Hope that helps.Mike
