Maybe an app that would do it? Anybody out there try this before? Any help would b greatly appreciated!

I don't know of any tablets that support video input. I would guess that USB port is for charging.

If and when they ever do adopt this technology it will be some sort of HDMI I"m guessing.

Darren is right that most Android tablets don't accept USB inputs, at least by default. However, you can usually get input functionality via root. The problem would be getting an android driver for your particular USB video input device, which would be unlikely.

On the other hand, almost all windows 8 tablets support input from the USB if you get a usb "on the go" cable to connect your usb/video input device you should be OK. I run a USB 'magicjack' and also a USB thumbdrive and a USB mouse into my Dell Venue Prop 8 tablet with no problems whatsoever. If you want the best support for input devices on USB and also drivers for those USB video input cables, you will want to go with a windows 8 tablet.
