Sonar screen cleaning

cabin boy

Question

My Lowrance screen has a nasty/gritty film on it. How to safely clean it? I have tried Dawn and warm water. Also tried vinegar. Neither touched it! Dont wanna use the wrong thing and wreck it! I think it might be bug spray or sunscreen. Ideas anyone? Thanks!!

A lot of screens have a clear layer on them kind of like a car light cover. Once they get a little old and scratched up there it's much you can do. There are a few oily or acrylic coatings you can throw on them which help for a while, but then you have to reapply them. frown
