Gas Fireplace Insert

Hello all,

I live in an old house that has a true fireplace since then an owner has added a set of those NG logs. The problem is when you open the flue they dont heat anything up. I would really like to add a gas insert into the house. The problem is it has a curve at the top. Wondering if any of you guys have suggestions on what I could do for this?

Sorry for the bad picture had to find one and this was as good as it got

From your measurements it looks like you have plenty of room for a gas insert. I would talk to a local fireplace dealer and find out what manufacturers will do custom shrouds to fill in your arched opening. I know Kozy Heat makes custom shrouds for these type of applications.
