keeping other fish off my bait

Recommended Posts

Been fishing the rum river night and day for carp but most of the time I get bullheads on my corn which is why I still have yet to land a carp over at the Anoka dam. What are ways I can get past this? Somehow his one kid caught a nice 10lb carp during the day time he was using oatmeal but Im wondering how did he get pass those pesky bullheads?

The pesky bullheads can peck at will, until Mr. Lips stoles up to the end of the scent trail. Game on........... Many forms of stinkbait out there; but carp are suckers for simple dough baits. I found recipes that include peanut butter tend to get them cranked up.

Use a bigger hook, like a 2 or 1/0 circle. I just thread a wrom on the end and have accidentally caught carp before.

In places where I used to fly fish for carp, if there were bullheads there, I would catch probably 8-10 bullheads for every carp I caught. It was just part of the game.
