brian6715
Hey all, I have a 10 amp on-board that I plan on installing in my 8x16 fish house. It is a Pro-Mar 2 bank charger that can dedicate more amps to whichever bank is on the battery that is more dead, so in theory one side could get 8 amps while the other side gets 2 amps.My question is, will this be a big enough charger if I am running a 2000W generator and have a 20,000 btu forced air furnace. I plan on running two class 24 interstate batteries, which have around an 80 amp hour rating. The rest of the house is all LED lighting, so it should be pretty efficient. I don't want to have to run the generator all day, hopefully maybe 10 hours or so each day max. Will a 2 bank 10 amp on-board charger be sufficient?Thanks!Brian-
harvey lee
I have the same sized house with a v front. I have a smaller 16,000 btu furnace and I run off 2 batteries and I have a 8amp on board charger, 4 amps to each battery. Seems to work fine for me. Bought the only time I watch TV is in the evening for 2-3 hours and the batteries charge when I am watching the tube as that is when I run the generator. If it is very cold out and the furnace is running alot, I may fire up the generator in the mid morning to make sure I have enough juice in the battery for the furnace. With my set up, not one issue with low battery to the point the furnace would not run.Not sure how low my batteries ever got as I never check them. I have 1 battery for the furnace and the other battery is for led lights and charging my cell phone and flasher or underwater camera batteries when they need a boost.
