North Shore Trip - seeking advice

A friend from down south (North Carolina) is coming up for a few days in August. We plan to split our time between shooting photos and fishing. I'd like to take him for a day's " photo safari" up the north shore since he's never been there before. I've been up and down quite a few times, but never went beyond the usual stops like the Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls, etc. Does anybody out there have suggestions for good photo opportunities that are beyond those obvious stops? Thanks ...

Cascade river is a fun spot for pics. shovel point. so many places. cross river by schroeder. north side of the bridge, down stream just a little you can walk in and there is a great spot for some pics looking back up at the falls. no trail. two island river also.

Check out Grand Portage and High Falls just before the border. There is some great photo to be taken from highway 61 of the Suzie Islands as well. The Cascade as eyeguy said provides a lot of bang for your hike. Devils Kettle is cool but it a hike. The scenic over up the gunflint trail at pincushion mountain it is about 2 miles from Grand Marais and it allows great photos of the habor and artists point. Mount Josephine by Grand Portage the little lake or pond on the north side of highway 61 makes for some great photos as well. You can also visit the witch tree while in Grand Portage. The old fort in Grand Portage is pretty cool as well. On the way from Grand Marais to Grand Portage check out Horseshoe Bay Marina it is pretty little spot a lot of people do not know about.
