Restoration projects

Hi guys, I am looking for some help in where to look to join a program in order to restore spawning habitat in the metro lakes for various species. My passion for the outdoors keeps growing and I would like to preserve that for future generations by giving back. Any help would greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You might check into the Isaac Walton League, and a chapter near you to see if they are involved in something you would be interested in.

The best way to get restoration efforts moving is with a "grass roots" group of other people who fish the lakes you are interested in. It was the duck hunters , snowmobilers, deer hunters, etc. that pushed the government agencies to focus on their sports. The government agencies and the big established outdoor groups tend to take a more global view and focus their efforts on a broad scale. Getting them to focus on a particular lake or group of lakes is an uphill push.

My recommendation is to start talking to localized like minded people, schedule a meeting an get a plan of action. Some of these smaller groups are now going after the money in the Legacy Fund to fund their projects to restore habitat and build infrastructure.
