Just wondering how many use Amsteel-blue rope in there fishing boats and how and how it hold up for them.

I have had nothing but good luck with it for tying the boat to dock and it will be on the wench when it needs replacing. I will most likely replace the anchor rope with it too.

I and she be yar.

No one?

Amsteel is for sailboats but I have some made up into a utility constrictor rope (UCR) for tieing up to docks and whatnot. I also have some made up into softies soft shackles to replace carabiners. Then for my hammock I have some made into whoopie slings.

It is worth looking into.

I put this rope on my winches of my wheelhouse. One has to make sure it does not hit any sharp edges but it seems to work great. I used some homemade rope guides so the rope will not hit anything sharp.

I purchased the 1/4 inch and I more than likely went way to heavy but it seems like this rope should last a long. long, time.

It is going to go on my winch also when the other wears out.

I was told many new 4 wheelers come with this rope for the winches. I believe Amsteel suggests to use their fairlead if you use this rope on the winch on a wheeler.

I asked a question about this product in the Ice Fishing forum and about nobody responded, not sure if that many people have tried this stuff but like I said, it looks to be of high quality. All the reviews I have read were very good except for people who used it and it hit some very sharp edges, then it could get cut.

1/4" is rated at 8,600 lbs. If you go smaller it could get hard on the hands if you have to pull hard on it. A Marlin spike hitch would be needed on a smaller dia.

Much lighter and as strong as steel cable. Just keep it away from sharp edges.
