I run this model. I run mine in the clear mode instead of the max mode. the best way to learn the unit is to put it in the simulator mode and adjust the settings to your liking once there they stay unless you change them again. I don't remember the exact numbers I have my sharpness, contrast and brightness on but next time I am by my boat I can check and write down my settings and let you know. so far it has been a great unit for me. I have mine tied to my I pilot link and the two together are great. because of both of these I plan to do a lot more trolling this summer then I have in the past. the one thing I have noticed with mine thou is that the contour lines on the lake master chip are off on some lakes. I was out at a lake up the road from my place and tested the follow the contour feature of the link and found the chip was off on the one end of this sunken island that I was following the contour of. the 899 is such a good unit that I am planning to add one in the bow too.
