Smallmouth bite disrupted?

Has anyone noticed if the smallmouth bite been disrupted by the mayflies? It just seems to me that lately on the river they seem to have lockjaw. Could this be because they are eating mayflies and are now stuffed or do I just suck at catchin fish lately?

I was on the sippi trying for cats with cut sucker. Only had a coulpe of ticks at my bait. Yep, big ol skunk. so maybe cats are eating them bugs to.

I got skunked too then. I started the evening catfishing but when that didn't turn up anything, I switched to smallies. Thats life I guess. If fishing were easy, we wouldn't want to do it.

It's summer peak time and you got to be in the right place at the right time. I was neither, but a few weeks ago that spot was hot.

Guy's, the bite is still going strong up here. I have noticed that they are not blowing out craws as much a smaller bait fish ( perch). They have not moved any deeper, but are making much more use of the cabbage, hence the perch?

The smallie diet definitely changes during the hatch and can make things more difficult. Catfish on the other hand... Ebass I think you just plain got skunked!
