Mud Minnows as bait???

Has anyone ever tried using mud minnows as bait for crappies?? I have a lot of them in my small pond and they are easy to catch... most are around 2" long. I was just wondering if anyone has ever fished with them before I go out and try to catch some. It just might be a good cheap alternative to normal minnows.

I haven't used them for crappies. The ones we seine are usually larger.

Absolutely one of my favorite minnows for walleye and smallmouth.

That's three dollars more a scoop than the ones in his backyard pond.

If it's a small fish, it'll catch big fish! I actually really like switching up species to something the bait store doesn't carry.
