open water (metro area)

I'm thinking about going fishing Saturday any decent crappie lakes open in the metro area

Check the metro forum. There will be some threads on lakes by area in the metro, ie, north metro, south metro.

That said, I think it will be a bit early for chasing crappies. I expect that they haven't moved up yet but that is purely conjecture because my boat is not water ready yet. Although I might make it out this weekend too.

I just want to go fishing don't really care if I catch much took the boat out yesterday to break in the new motor and I got the itch to fish

Not sure about crappies biting yet but Bryant Lake in Eden Prairie is open and no motor restrictions if you just want to get the boat out. I have never fished it in the spring but have got crappies through the ice many years ago.

Just spoke to a buddy and he said he was just at Prior Lake and ice is out there too. 2 boat trailers so far
