I am going to buy one new for 2,700 dollars any comments on them their speed how they run?

Never heard or experienced a bad thing about those motors. The short shaft isn't good for bigger water but I gather you have a reason for picking a shorty.

I have a mirro craft/ mills fleet farm lakes and Rivers deep fisherman with livewell, and storage and it was oringaly designed to have a long shaft but the guy I bought it from had a area in the transom cut out buy mirro craft which he lived 10 miles from their world headquarters. And it then was made to fit his shortshaft 9.9 hp yamaha that I have now. I will now have a 25 hp yamaha and 25hp is the capacity of this boat its going to be fun with all the speed.

I had a 25 horse Yamaha long shaft and it was the best running motor I ever had. Faster than every other 25 I met and great on gas. Best of all it was a easy starter even when cold out like spring rainy river cold.

i have a 25 Yamaha short shaft was a outfitter motor, even with the customer abuse at the resort the motor still runs like new,trolls right down and will troll all day. faster then most 25 on a 16 ft Lund.

Hopefully the additional weight won't have your lowered transom too close to the water. Just something to think about.
