#3 Jiggin Raps works great for me, primarily because it helps filter out the smaller ones - just need to be careful not to let the end hooks catch the edge of the hole. My Gander Extreme ML rod 28" worked fine but guides iced up, this year upgraded to a TUCR Precision 32" rod for my Jiggin Raps and loving it!

I've had great luck using the Clam Ant Drop for perch this year, #12 size in blue, chartreuse, and red/white. The Lindy Tungsten Toad in firetiger has also been a perch winner this year too. Been using custom ultralight and light rods from Bricker's Custom rods most of the year. Love 'em!

Don't need a spring bobber for perch with a fast tip on your rod IMO.especially perch worth catching.

I've caught 12" perch this winter that barely moved a spring bobber. With the constant pressure fluctuations we've had in SD the past 3 weeks, the fish have been negative many days.
