Anybody have a good solution for a DIY portable generator sound damapening 'boxes'!?

I couldn't bring myself to spend a $1000 on a 'quiet' Honda. So, I am trying to figure out how to build a simple box to put my geny in while in the back of my truck on the ice to not only dampen noise but protect from weather too. I've heard of guys using portable dog kennels lined with egg-crate foam...not a bad idea. They already have vent holes/slots in them too.

Any ideas or know of any websites I could hit up to see some ideas?
