Lowering an ice castle?

I am sorry for the dumb question. When I lower my ice castle I usually leave it attached to the hitch. Can you unhook and drive away after it's lowered or do you need to unhook the truck entirely and rest it on the tongue jack before lowering?

If you can get the coupler off the truck you can disconnect after it's already lowered. Sometimes if the angle is too sharp (hitch is high up in the air because the truck is tall, etc) it can be tricky to get the coupler to release after the house is already lowered. I jump on the bumper of the truck a few times while lifting up on the trailer tongue and it usually pops right off.

I have a Yetti not an ice castle, but I don't think it's any different. I also sometimes have a tough time getting the coupler to latch when hooking it up to a house on the ice, but once you jack the house up obviously the angle problem goes away and you're able to latch the coupler.

Exactly what Redlineracer said...if the angle isn't too steep to unhook the coupler you are good to go! I have a 6" lift kit in my truck & I can still drop my Ice Castle and either leave it hooked, or turn the tongue jack a few cranks and release from the ball to drive away.
